Welcome to Coconut Bite

This is a place to share skills, knowledge and interests with one another. We don’t have any hard and fast rules, but we do have some guidelines to make sure Coconut Bite is as useful for everyone as possible. Please take a few minutes to read the below and get your bearings on how we like to run things.

Get involved

We’re grateful for everyone’s input in helping us make this a great place for discussion - one way to do that is to contribute as much as you can, and as much as you feel comfortable doing so. So, jump in and join the conversation. However small your contribution, it may well be just the thing someone else was looking for or waiting to hear.

The topics discussed here matter to us, and we hope they matter to you, too. But if there are some that don’t, please do be respectful of other people discussing them, even if you disagree with some of what is being said. Remember to criticise ideas, not people.

Get started by spending some time browsing the topics already in action before replying or starting your own, and you’ll have a better chance of meeting others who share your interests, challenges and passions.

Curate the best experience

The discussions we have in Coconut Bite set the tone for every new arrival. We’re really grateful to those who can help us influence the future of this community by choosing to engage in discussions that make this forum an interesting place to be.

Discourse provides tools that allow each and every one of us to collectively identify the best (and worst) contributions: bookmarks, likes, flags, replies, edits, etc. Please do use these tools to improve your own experience, and everyone else’s, too.

If you see a problem, tell us

Although the Coconut team all act as moderators, we look to our community members to help us spot things that shouldn’t be happening too.

If you see any bad behavior, resist the urge to reply. Please tell us about what you’ve seen straight away. We can then investigate and decide what action should be taken.

In order to make sure Coconut Bite is as useful as it can be, moderators reserve the right to remove any content and any user account for any reason at any time. As moderators, we don’t preview new posts; and so we take no responsibility for any content posted by the community.

Be nice to each other

Nothing ruins a good meaty conversation like rudeness:

  • Don’t post anything that a reasonable person would consider offensive, abusive, or hate speech.
  • Keep it clean; don’t post anything obscene or sexually explicit.
  • Respect each other; don’t harass or aggravate anyone, impersonate people, or expose their private or personal information without their wishes.

This is a public forum, and so search engines index these discussions. So please keep the language, links, and images safe for family and friends.

Stay organised

It’s ultimately going to be more useful for everyone if content is easy to find. So please do make the effort to put things in the right place, so that we can spend more time discussing things with you and less time cleaning up. So:

  • Don’t start a topic in the wrong category
  • Don’t cross-post the same thing in multiple topics
  • Don’t divert a topic by changing it midstream

A few other useful tips:

  • Rather than posting “+1” or “Agreed”, use the Like button
  • Rather than taking an existing topic in a radically different direction, use Reply as a Linked Topic

Community Feedback

This community is run by the Coconut team members and you, the community. If you have questions about how things should work here or ideas for things you’d like to see, open a new topic in the Feedback & Bugs Category. We want to make this as useful as possible for everyone so feedback is always welcome. We can’t promise we’ll always be able to action it, but we’ll certainly try.

Terms of Service
